How to Sell Your Music

   1. Sign Up as a member of 96decibels.com
   96decibels is an Independent Content Provider and can introduce your music into the Weed system. 96decibels does this by working directly with artists and rightsholders to verify ownership of the songs, test for audio quality, and submit the tracks to Weed for conversion to Weed format. 96decibels will also create a new account for you in the Weed system.

   2.Sign and send a Rightsholder Agreement
   Before any songs are Weedified, the rights to the material must be cleared. Weed does not request any rights from artists, but 96decibels must verify that the individuals who submit music files for Weedification have the legal right to distribute and sell those files.
   
   This step will be checked off when we receive your signed Rightsholder Agreement. In the mean time, you may upload tracks for weedification (Step 5). The weedification process can be completed when we have received your signed Rightsholder Agreement.

2. 96decibels cannot accept cover songs or music that includes samples from published or unidentified artists unless you have the appropriate written clearances to distribute those songs.

3. 3.Convert your files to WMA and add metadata
   Weed files start off as unprotected Windows Media Format (WMA) files (or WMV for video). Many current audio editing programs allow you to "Save As" .wma. Check the list to verify that your software will create WMA files. Be sure to add the Title, Artist, Genre and Copyright information to your file when converting (the more information the better). It is recommended that you use 160 or 192 kbps at 41.1k sample rate.

4. 4.Decide how much you want to charge for your music
   You can set any price you like for your music. Download services commonly charge between 79 cents and $2.00 per track.  It's your decision what to charge for your music. I recommend that you stay under a dollar.  CLICK HERE WHEN COMPLETE.

5. 5.Upload your tracks, cover art and album/song and artist description to 96decibels.com.
6. Description and Cover Art are an extremely important aspect of marketing your songs.  96decibels utilizes these descriptions to create press releases, webpage displays and CD catalog descriptions.  We are unable to submit press releases on your behalf without good descriptions..... 7. 6.Get your Weed files back from 96decibels
8. Once your files are Weedified, 96decibels will post them in the music catalog which is accessed via the Music link. You may download your songs and freely distribute them any way you like. When people buy them, you'll receive 50% of the purchase price. We do not restrict where an artist may distribute their songs.

9. 7.Promote and distribute your Weed files
   Post your new Weed files on your website, 96decibels provides every artist/band with their own FREE Bandsite where you can promote your band and tunes, you can link directly to your weedified songs in the music catalog and save the expense of having to purchase server space to store your files and IT IS FREE.  Get your friends to buy them, and put them on CDs and P2P services and anywhere else you can dream of to get your songs to the world.
